Johannesburg - Over 224 cars stolen in South Africa have been recovered in neighbouring countries, the Hawks said on Monday.
The cars were recovered from March 1 by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigations - known as the Hawks - working with Interpol and its regional partners, said Hawks spokesperson Musa Zondi.
They were found Lesotho, Mozambique, Swaziland, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia, he said in a statement.
Another 60 stolen cars were recovered in South Africa between Friday and Sunday in transnational operations in the Southern African Development Community.
The operations were sanctioned by the Southern African Regional Police Chiefs' Council, which met in South Africa last week, Zondi said.
