Durban - The court action involving the IFP and KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Safety and Security Bheki Cele was on Tuesday postponed to August at the Durban High Court.
Cele has accused the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) leadership of "ploughing seeds of hatred" and has asked the court to tell them to stop.
Cele also wants a court order interdicting the party from allegedly telling lies about him.
He further asked for a public retraction of IFP statements which alleged that he (Cele) had wielded a firearm and provoked police to shoot IFP supporters in Nongoma during an election rally in January.
The MEC, in court papers, says he did not do anything wrong and instead kept the peace and communicated with opposition leaders when armed supporters blockaded roads and threatened bus passengers.
Both the party and Cele had filed affidavits and Judge Leona Theron postponed the matter to August 21.
