Census 2011: Households not counted
Johannesburg - A number of households have not been counted across the country by Monday morning as Census 2011 drew close to an end.
"Our operations on the ground indicate that there are still households we have not counted," statistician general Pali Lehohla said at media briefing in Pretoria.
Monday was the last day of the 21-day enumeration phase, which included the distribution of about 20 million questionnaires.
Lehohla said families which had not been counted would be visited during a two week "mop-up exercise", which starts on Tuesday.
Stats SA could consider an extension.
"We can only decide after compiling information which comes in later today," he said.
