Chanelle Henning murder accused gets bail

2011-11-30 13:12

Pretoria - One of the five men arrested in connection with the murder of young Pretoria mother Chanelle Henning was granted bail on Wednesday.

Pretoria Regional Court Magistrate Kirro Pillay released Preshan Singh, 24, on R5 000 bail, citing "exceptional circumstances for his involvement in the charge", but imposed stiff bail conditions.

State prosecutor Gerrie Nel did not oppose bail despite the seriousness of the charges being faced by Singh.

He was ordered to report to the Hercules police station in Pretoria West every Wednesday and Sunday evening. He was instructed not to make any contact, directly or indirectly, with three State witnesses.

Henning, 26, was killed on November 8 in a drive-by shooting while driving home after dropping her son at a pre-school in Manitoba Drive, Faerie Glen, Pretoria.

People are getting bail and we are no closer to the motive. Sad.

if photos are anything to go by this guy looked the worst of the bunch, dont understand exceptional circumstances but lets wait and see, personally i would not have give anyone bail until the investigating is complete

      Hans - 2011-11-30 13:57

You may be right but the worrying thing is that they look like they have done this before.I may be wrong but they look like trouble makers.

      John - 2011-11-30 14:44

hans, i dont think all of them but a few for sure, the cop that rolled over i think is a first timer thats why he cracked and as trouble makers go they do look it.

Just wondering when the "masterbrain",(can such scum have a brain?) will be arrested..The real assassin is in other words still outside,so this little piece let loose now may run into more "exceptional circumstances"like his own fresh grave outside..depending whether he can incriminate assassin...

      JohnnyBGood - 2011-11-30 14:09

For his sake, I hope he cant otherwise he will be swimming with them fishies, wearing cement boots...

  • Deon - 2011-11-30 14:12

I am more concerned about the 3 state witnesses, I hope this does it is not include the 2 that did the actual killing. They might go free.
