Cape Town - Jailed cash heist kingpin Collen Chauke is getting lots of fresh air in Pretoria's C-Max jail, but is complaining about being called "Osama bin Laden" by warders .
The Law Society of SA said in its report on human rights in
prisons released on Wednesday that its representatives were
initially told Chauke did not want to talk to them.
"But after insisting, the delegates were surprised that he spoke to them and had many complaints about the way the warders treated him, including calling him Osama bin Laden.
"Because of time constraints, Chauke was advised to speak to his attorneys about his complaints."
The report said C-Max was "extremely clean with lots of fresh
air".
The report was compiled by the members of the society's human
rights committee after they visited 12 prisons countrywide, to mark Human Rights Day.
Chauke, at one time said to be South Africa's most wanted man,
is serving a 15-year sentence for the theft of R12.6 million from the SBV depot in Pretoria in 1997.
