Child drowns in Durban public pool

2012-04-07 21:38

Durban - A 6-year-old boy drowned in a public swimming pool in Springfield Park, Durban, on Saturday afternoon, paramedics said.

"Reports from the scene indicate that lifeguards found the child at the bottom of the pool, it is still not certain how long the boy was submerged under water," said Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha.

Lifeguards performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the child.

Paramedics then performed advanced life support resuscitation for almost an hour but the boy was declared dead on the scene, said Botha.

Where were the parents? Aunt, Uncle! SUPERVISION. What an unnecessary death. RIP little one.

This sad incident has missed the eyes of the parents, others at the pool and the lifeguards. Was the excitement so much that nobody even noticed this little child drowning? Even though normally nobody would want to harm their loved one, Who should be held accountable for the loss of this innocent childs life? My condolences to the family. Every child should be taught basic life skills.

Knowing very well that it is a public poll but there was no life guard or supervision just to. Make sure that nobody finds them selves in this situation like this, come on now people just take good care of your children.
