Johannesburg - Those who commit atrocities and murders against children must rot in jail, minister for women, children and people with disabilities Lulu Xingwana said on Saturday.
"They are evil. They do not deserve parole," she said.
"We have to move with speed to put these murderers behind bars, including the sangomas who pay for the body parts of our children."
Xingwana was speaking at the funeral of 8-year-old Zikhona Qhayi in Khayelitsha, outside Cape Town.
Qhayi was reported missing at the Harare police station at 01:00 on October 10 and was found dead in bushes in Khayelitsha the next day.
She was last seen playing with friends outside her home.
The cause of her death was still being investigated, said Xingwana's spokesperson Cornelius Monama.
According to Xingwana, 965 children were murdered last year.
