Johannesburg - The bail application of an East London businessman, 32, charged with the possession of child pornography, has been postponed until September 26, according to an official at the East London magistrate's court.
The official, who asked not to be identified, said the defence requested the accused be remanded until his bail application.
The court had also issued an order, in terms of sections 153 and 154 of the Criminal Procedure Act, that "no personal particulars of the accused may be published whatsoever, especially relating to the bail application".
This order would not necessarily apply to the trial.
The man has been charged with possessing pornographic photographs of five-year-old girls.
Police spokesperson Constable Sizwe Nono was reported as saying police had found pictures on a digital camera during a search of the man's home in the suburb of Nahoon, earlier this month.
