Mombasa - Kenyan police are investigating a retired German national who frequently visits Kenya after he was arrested last week photographing children's genitals and found to be in possession of a pornographic video featuring minors, officials said on Monday.
Leo Brock, 68, from Cologne, was arrested in the Kenyan port city of Mombasa last week Tuesday after concerned parents told police he was taking pictures of the genitals of children swimming at a local recreation facility.
In the course of his arrest, authorities discovered and seized a locally made pornographic movie featuring Brock and adult women as well as scenes involving children, photos of naked women and Viagra tablets, the police said.
They added they were investigating whether Brock had links to the international trade in child pornography.
No ordinary home video
"When police arrested the man, he was forced to hand over the tape and the film and it was at this juncture we discovered he had made a whole two-hour sex movie where he was the main actor," a Mombasa police official said.
The official would not say whether the children depicted in the video were engaged in sex acts but described the entire video as "dirty and morally corrupt", adding Kenyan woman who appeared in the tape was also arrested.
Patrick Obimo, a senior officer in the Coast Provincial Criminal Investigations Department, said Brock would be charged on Tuesday with possession of indecent material pending the child porn investigation.
A retired electronics engineer, Brock is a frequent visitor to Kenya and last arrived in the country on April 5, according to travel documents seized by police, officials said.
Authorities believe he may be part of an international syndicate operating on the Kenyan coast and paying poor women to make blue movies that are later posted on the Internet.
Kenyan social workers have increasingly complained that a trade in sex tourism is growing in Mombasa and nearby Indian Ocean resorts.
