Johannesburg - The bodies of three people who died in a helicopter crash in Lydenburg on Saturday will be flown to Pretoria for forensic tests, Mpumalanga police said on Sunday.
"We don't know who they are yet so the forensic team in Pretoria will help determine that on Monday," spokesperson Jurry Mashego said.
He said the Civil Aviation Authority was hard at work, trying to piece together details of the accident that happened in a mountainous area on Saturday afternoon.
"Finding the engine number will help them determine the origins of the helicopter," he said.
The three were burnt beyond recognition when their helicopter got entangled in electric wires at 13:00 and crashed on a mountain range surrounding a mine between Lydenburg and Ohrigstad.
