Cape Town – A man who threatened to jump from the 23rd floor of the Cape Town Civic Centre has been lured off the edge of the building and taken to safety, according to reports.

Wilfred Solomons-Johannes, spokesperson for the city’s disaster risk management, has confirmed that the man has been lured off the building and taken to safety.

Tweets have been flooding in for the man dubbed Civic Centre Man.

Ian Naude tweeted: “They were offering him something, when he came over to take it, they grabbed him with full force!”

Mich Clarke said: “They finally got hold of the #CivicCentreMan - grabbed him as he was taking something from negotiator. Job well done to that team!”

Tana Lancaster tweeted: “#civicCentreMan has been grabbed and pushed to the ground full force! Great that he is no longer at risk of harming himself."
