Johannesburg - A brick wall between two houses collapsed and killed a baby and a seven-year-old child instantly while they were playing outside their home in Tembisa on Monday, North Rand police said.
Captain Sophie Mayisela said the accident occurred while a neighbour's child aged 10 was hanging washing on the wall.
"The child was apparently holding onto the wall and hanging washing on it when the wall collapsed and killed both children instantly."
Mayisela said the neighbour's child was not injured during the incident.
The victims, an 18-month-old baby girl and a seven-year-old girl were distant relatives.
A case of culpable homicide was opened.
