Pretoria - A student who was hit by a car during the University of Pretoria rag festivities two weekends ago, died on Saturday morning.
Anthony Bowden, 20, a second-year student in Hospitality Management at the University of Johannesburg, had been connected to life-support machines since the accident.
The machines were going to be switched off at 14:00 on Tuesday, but he coughed moments before, as his family was leaving the room.
Robbie Parker, Bowden’s cousin, said Bowden hadn’t moved again since the cough.
“He died early [on Saturday] morning, on his own. There was no brain activity anymore,” Parker said.
Bowden had gone to rag with Parker. He was hit in Queen Wilhelmina Avenue at 17:55, as he and Parker were crossing the street.
