Confessed killer mom probed for other deaths
Johannesburg - A pregnant mother who confessed to murdering her 2-year-old son is also under investigation in connection with the death of at least two more of her children, Western Cape police said on Sunday.
"I can confirm we are looking at the deaths of two or more [of her children]," said Warrant Officer November Filander.
The woman, who is due to give birth to another child, confessed to the murder of 2-year-old Tariq Jacobs, after being arrested on Saturday.
Filander said on Sunday that police were now also looking into the circumstances around the previous death of two or more of her children.
Jacobs' body was found by members of the community in a shallow grave at Imperial Primary School in Beacon Valley on Saturday around 14:00.
He was last seen at the old bus terminus in Mitchells Plain on Thursday around 10:00.
An autopsy is being conducted to establish the cause of death.
The 36-year-old mother is expected to appear in the Mitchells Plain Magistrate's Court on Tuesday on charges of murder and abandonment.
