Cop appears over shooting
Johannesburg - A police officer has appeared in the Prince Albert Magistrate's Court in connection with the shooting and wounding of a colleague, say Western Cape police.
Spokesperson Bernadine Steyn said the case had been postponed the matter to January 19 next year for further investigation.
Constable Graham Wicomb would remain in custody until his next appearance.
Wicomb was arrested for allegedly shooting a 25-year-old woman police constable at a hostel in Leeu-Gamka in the Western Cape on December 2.
Steyn said the woman had parked her car around 23:00 when 26-year-old Wicomb arrived and parked next to her.
He allegedly drew his service pistol, walked over to her and shot her as she sat in the car.
She was admitted to a local hospital and discharged later.
Both officers were stationed at the Leeu-Gamka police station.
The motive for the shooting was not known.
