Cop arrested over Christmas sheep

2010-12-24 14:01

Cape Town - A constable from the Upington stock theft unit is to appear in court on Friday after demanding two sheep from a suspected stock thief, the Hawks said on Friday.

Spokesperson McIntosh Polela said the constable demanded the sheep, which he wanted "for the festive period", in exchange for not arresting the suspect.

The constable had an arrest warrant for the man.

Polela said the suspect contacted the unit's commander, and co-operated with police in setting up a meeting with the constable, at which the sheep were handed over and the constable was then arrested.

Baaaaad news for the sheepish policeman. His excuse is he was stocktaking. The thief pulled the wool over his eyes! A real wolf in sheep's clothing caught him. These cops are worse than Mutt & Jeff.
