Durban - A policeman was killed after being struck by a minibus taxi that failed to stop at a police roadblock on Thursday, police said.
Superintendent Zandra Wiid said police from the Donnybrook police station were holding a roadblock on the R612 when a taxi raced through the roadblock at high speed.
The taxi struck a police officer, whose name has yet to be released.
Attempts by EMRS paramedics to save the man were unsuccessful and he died at the accident scene.
The taxi driver stopped after his vehicle struck the policeman and he was arrested.
Wiid said that the taxi driver faced a charge of culpable homicide.
Donnybrook is a small town located on the R612 between Bulwer and Ixopo in the KwaZulu-Natal midlands.
