Cop kills girlfriend, himself

Johannesburg - A police reserve sergeant in Kuils River shot and killed his girlfriend and then killed himself, Cape Town police said on Tuesday.
Captain Isaac van Niekerk said the shooting took place on Monday night outside the policeman's house.
The sergeant had an argument with his girlfriend in front of his house and fired shots at her with his private pistol.
"Thirty-year-old Edwina Titus sustained bullet wounds to her back, left leg and left side and later passed away in hospital," Van Niekerk said.
The sergeant then went to his bathroom and shot himself.
"He was found with a gunshot wound to his head and died on the scene," said Van Niekerk.
Police are investigating a case of murder and have opened an inquest docket on the incident.
