Cop kills self in front of kids

Johannesburg - A Hazyview, Mpumalanga policeman shot and killed himself in front of his children, after an argument with his wife, police said on Friday.
Irvin Mabuye, 34, woke his children, aged 14 and 15, around 04:00 on Friday morning and ordered them to stand in the passage with his wife, police spokesperson Captain Leonard Hlathi said in a statement.
"His wife ran and locked herself in the main bedroom. Mabuye then shot himself in front of his children."
Provincial police said they were "shocked" by the death and pleaded with officers to seek counselling.
"Should there be misunderstandings between themselves and their spouses or family members, they should contact their station commanders so that necessary referrals to the skilled and professional officials can be done.
"Committing suicide is not solving the problem, but creates more problems."
