Johannesburg - A metro police officer was arrested on Friday in Kempton Park for bribery, Ekurhuleni metro police said.
Inspector Jimmy Maboko said the officer accepted a bribe of an undisclosed amount of money from a truck driver just before 13:00.
"He stopped the driver and demanded money because his truck was faulty."
Maboko said the officer kept the truck and told the driver that he would only get it back if he paid him.
The driver reported the incident to the officer's supervisor and his money was photocopied and certified.
Senior officials followed the driver to the scene where they observed the handing over of the money in exchange for the truck, said Maboko.
The officer was arrested and charged with bribery.
He was expected to appear in court soon, Maboko said.
