Kimberley - A policeman killed his wife at Barkly West before returning to Kimberley where he committed suicide, said police on Wednesday.
Captain Tony Modise said the shootings happened between 18:00 and 19:00 on Tuesday.
"...inspector John Sekgabo of Galeshewe arrived at his wife's house in Barkly West where the two got involved in an argument at the front door."
Modise said a witness saw the policeman draw a firearm and fire three shots at the woman.
"Gloria Sekgabo, 28, was hit in the head and died at the house."
After the shooting, the policeman drove back to his house in Kimberley where he was later found with a bullet wound in the head. He was still alive at the time, but died later in hospital.
"Police found a private pistol at his house and the ownership of the firearm was still being traced," said Modise.
Sekgabo was stationed at the Kimberley family violence and child protection unit.
