Cop shot dead in Hillbrow

Johannesburg - A police officer died and a reservist was in serious condition on Thursday after they were shot in Joubert Park in Hillbrow, Johannesburg police said.

Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said they were attacked while on duty on Wednesday night. Both were shot in the upper body.

Sergeant Nkosinathi Mgimiti, 30, died on the scene, and the reservist was taken to hospital.

Mgimiti's service pistol was taken from him.

Two people were seen running away after the shooting, Dlamini said.
