Johannesburg - Two men have been arrested between Cullinan and Mamelodi for possession of stolen copper, Pretoria police said on Tuesday.
Spokesperson Jastha Cullinan said the two men aged between 26 and 28 were arrested by police patrolling the area.
"Police spotted the two men walking along the road between Cullinan and Mamelodi carrying heavy bags. They searched them and found copper weighing more than 40kg," he said.
The copper was estimated to be worth R1 500.
"Police suspect the copper to be stolen from Telkom cable. Investigations are underway," said Cullinan.
The two were facing charges of theft.
They would appear in the Cullinan Magistrate's Court this week.
