Durban - Two Durban policemen were arrested after being linked to a hijacking, police said on Tuesday.
Superintendent Zandra Hechter said the two SA Police Services officers - aged 38 and 47 - who belonged to the KwaMakutha police station - were arrested on Monday night.
It is alleged that on Friday a couple had been travelling on the N2 freeway in a minibus towards Durban when they spotted a red Golf flashing headlights at them.
"They did not stop as they were scared and continued to drive when a blue light - similar to those used by police - indicated that they should stop," said Hechter.
The minibus stopped and four armed men jumped in. While being forced to drive towards Durban, the victims realised that the Golf was still following them.
The couple were pushed out of the combi near Umkomaas.
The matter was later reported to the police, and upon investigation, the case was linked to two policemen.
The stolen combi was found in the KwaMakutha police station parking lot.
Police said they are searching for more suspects.
