Johannesburg - Police on Saturday appealed for public help in solving the murder of a chicken farmer in Polokwane.
Spokesperson Inspector Lesiba Ramashaba said Pieter Smit and his wife Natasha, were attacked early on Friday morning.
"The deceased was preparing to leave for work, and was outside his house when he was confronted by four armed men who forced him back into the house."
"The man was shot in his heart and his wife, who is two months pregnant, was also shot in her leg. She is currently in hospital receiving treatment. All this happened in front of the couple's three-year-old son."
Police were investigating cases of murder and attempted murder.
"We have spoken to the wife and she doesn't know why someone would do this. Nothing was stolen from the house and at this stage we are trying to figure out the motive for the murder.
"If the public have any information they have to come forward. We are working around the clock on this case and any information will assist us," he said.
