Johannesburg - North Rand police believe they have cracked a syndicate specialising in the manufacturing of credit and debit cards, a spokesperson said on Saturday.
Two Nigerians were arrested, equipment was seized and suspected stolen property recovered when police raided a house at Edleen village on Friday, Superintendent Eugene Opperman said.
"Inside the house they (police) found a large number of sound systems, speakers and other electronic equipment for which the two Nigerian men could give no reasonable explanation as to where or how they got it.
"On the premises police also found a sophisticated electronic machine which apparently enables the suspects to make counterfeit Master, Visa and other bank credit cards," Opperman said.
The goods were valued at around R400 000.
Crime intelligence agents and detectives were busy profiling the syndicate in an attempt to find more criminal connections to other cases and accomplices, Opperman said.
The two arrested men are expected to appear in court on Monday.
