Durban - A man was arrested on Wednesday morning after he and three others tried to rob a woman of R14 000 in Durban, said KwaZulu-Natal police.
The men followed the woman from a bank and when she reached her destination on Stamfordhill Road, they drew firearms and threatened to shoot her, said inspector Michael Read.
They took her purse, which had R14 000 in it.
Police who were driving down the road in a private car saw the robbery, fired a few shots in the air and three of the men escaped.
"We arrested one of them and confiscated a firearm," said Read.
The money was also recovered.
The man was due to appear in Durban magistrate's court on Friday, said Read.
