Nelspruit - A paedophile who managed to evade police for seven years after skipping bail in his first child molestation case, went on to abuse five more children in the small town of White River in Mpumalanga.
Riaan Delport, 22, was only caught in August when the parents of his last victim, a 10-year-old boy, reported him to police.
He was found guilty in the Nelspruit regional court on Thursday on charges of indecently assaulting six children between the ages of six and 12.
He was remanded in custody pending his sentencing on December 2 and police rushed to protect him from a photographer outside the court.
Delport first abused a six-year-old girl in 1996, when he was 15.
He was arrested but disappeared while out on a warning and for the next seven years molested five more children.
In 1997 he performed fellatio on a six-year-old boy and forced the boy to perform fellatio on him in turn.
Two years later he forced a nine-year-old boy to perform fellatio on him and, in the same year, he fondled a 12-year-old girl's vagina.
He also molested a six-year-old, but was only re-arrested in August this year after molesting a ten-year-old boy whose parents reported the case to police.
