Cops close in on alleged FS fraudster
Johannesburg - A man who allegedly defrauded women and businesses in Virginia will soon be arrested, Free State police said on Monday.
Warrant Officer Malebo Khosana said police knew who the man was and that "his arrest is imminent".
The 53-year-old man "preys on unsuspecting victims" and then defrauds them.
He befriended single, divorced or widowed women, gained their trust and then moved in with them.
Once he had defrauded them, he left, Khosana said.
Another tactic he used was to approach businesses and pretend he had cancer and needed money for treatment.
Three cases of theft were opened in Virginia, but police believed that there might be more cases that had not yet been reported.
Police appealed to other victims to come forward so that they "can remove him from (the Virginia) community".
