Johannesburg - The Pretoria serial fuel thief has been linked to another case of petrol theft.
This time he is thought to have stolen R1 500 worth of petrol from a fuel station near Pelindaba.
In July 2007, he allegedly filled up his car and several containers and then sped off without paying.
The man, who drives a white Corsa 1600, has up till now stolen about R8 000 in petrol from fuel stations in and around Pretoria.
Skurweberg fuel station manager, Dolf de Beer, said he recognised the thief after Beeld reported on his activities.
"He first asked the petrol attendant, Anna Fenyanni, to fill up his car."
"Then he asked her to fill up the containers in his car", said De Beer.
According to him, the man walked with Fenyanni to the shop and asked for oil.
"He said he was looking for specific oil and that he had left the list in his car".
"When he turned around to fetch the list, Anna did not go with him and the next moment he jumped into his car and sped off", said De Beer.
On April 9, the man stole R2 470 in petrol from the Engen fuel station in Groenkloof, Pretoria.
On May 15, he stole R2 570 in fuel from a BP fuel station. The petrol attendant said the man gave him a Fanta Grape, biltong and R10.
Police spokesperson Brenda Kgafela said police had several leads and felt confident that they would soon arrest the petrol thief.
