Nelspruit - A police vehicle with three cops inside has overturned near Nelspruit while police were in pursuit of alleged robbers, paramedics say.

"The police vehicle overturned on the N4 about 20km outside Nelspruit while pursuing a suspect vehicle," Netcare 911's spokesperson Chris Botha said in a statement.

It is believed that the vehicle had a tyre blow-out before the driver lost control, overturning the vehicle.

The three officers were taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment, added Botha.
