Cops deny drug trafficking

Johannesburg - Three police officers facing charges of drug trafficking pleaded not guilty to all 13 charges against them in the South Gauteng High Court on Monday.

Senior Superintendent Dumisani Jwara, 43, Captain Landro Mokgosani and Captain Victor Jwili, 38 did give any explanation when entering their not guilty plea on Monday morning.

The three officers, along with Captain Sakhepi Caiphus Shange, who has since died, are accused of seizing drugs trafficked into the country and selling them to drug lords.

Stationed at the West Rand organised crime unit in Roodepoort, the three officers and Shange were arrested on March 23 on charges including drug dealing, fraud, attempted theft, racketeering and defeating the ends of justice.

The trial continues.
