Johannesburg - A 46-year-old Swiss lawyer accused of sexually exploiting young boys will remain in custody until his next court appearance on November 8, Gauteng police said on Monday.
Superintendent Mary Martins-Engelbrecht said the Wynberg magistrate's court denied the man bail.
He will be held at Johannesburg Prison until his next court appearance.
Only one formal charge was being investigated against him, but police were following up additional information about more possible victims.
The man was arrested at a Sandton hotel by police acting on a tip-off on Sunday last week.
He was caught while allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old boy from Alexandra in his room.
Martins-Engelbrecht said the man stood accused of luring children to have sex with him by buying them expensive gifts.
Pornographic material, a laptop computer and cellphone were confiscated.
The arrest should serve as a stern warning to foreigners that sex tourism would not be tolerated in South Africa, Martins-Engelbrecht said.
