Johannesburg - Two men were arrested and two others are on the run after police foiled their plans to rob a supermarket at Jabulani mall in Soweto on Thursday, Gauteng police said.
Inspector Kay Makhubela said police rushed to the mall immediately after they were alerted by community members about four men in a suspicious car.
"When police arrived two of the men got away and two of them were cornered. We found that they had one unlicensed firearm," said Makhubela.
Police are still looking for the other two men.
The men, aged 18 and 33, are expected to appear before the Protea Magistrate's Court on charges of attempted armed robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
