Johannesburg - Police are searching for two men linked to the murder of former Namibian and South African cricketer Louis Vorster, Gauteng police said on Thursday.

Identikits of the men were released on Wednesday so that communities could assist police with information, said Lieutenant Colonel Tshisikhawe Ndou.

"An identikit of the suspect who was the driver of the getaway... motor vehicle has been compiled... [and] other suspects who were captured through CCTV footage."

Vorster, 46, was shot dead at a Total service station in Muldersdrift, north-west of Johannesburg, on April 17.

He was leaving the filling station when a gold-colour  Volkswagen with two men inside blocked his way.

One of the men walked up to him and fired a shot at him, while the other went to the passenger side of Vorster's car and grabbed a bag. They then fled.

Beeld newspaper said it was believed he was the victim of a syndicate following people after withdrawing large amounts of cash.
