Polokwanhe - Two Limpopo policemen have been arrested for smuggling 12 goats from Zimbabwe into South Africa, said provincial police on Sunday.
Captain Malelo Mashudu said the men were arrested after police received a complaint from the public in the Sigode area.
"The policemen allegedly started smuggling the goats in January 2004."
Malelo said the stock theft unit, together with veterinary officials, found the goats had been delivered to a 47-year-old woman. She was arrested on August 24.
According to Malelo the woman led police to the alleged smugglers. The two policemen, from the Olldays and Tshamutumbu police stations, were arrested between August 25 and 26.
Malelo said the pair were due to appear in court soon.
