Johannesburg - A man was arrested on Tuesday in Thokoza after he was found in possession of a stolen mini-bus taxi, Ekurhuleni police said.
Captain Godfrey Maditsi said the man was arrested and three unlicensed firearms were confiscated after a tracker company traced the stolen yellow mini-bus taxi to Empilisweni around 02:00.
"He was found in possession of one piece of live ammunition and later pointed out three guns hidden under the taxi mat", said Maditsi.
The man was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and unlicensed firearm and he is expected to appear before the Alberton Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
Hijacker shot
In another incident one man was shot and wounded and another arrested in Thokoza after the pair hijacked a man and drove away in his bakkie.
Maditsi said police who were travelling with the complainant were involved in a shoot-out with the men in Empilisweni after they spotted them pushing the bakkie that had ran out of petrol around 03:00.
"There is a possibility that the man arrested for possession of a stolen mini-bus taxi was transporting the two because the complainant of the bakkie said the men who hijacked him were travelling in a yellow mini-bus taxi," said Maditsi.
Those arrested are expected to appear in the Alberton Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
