Port Elizabeth - Breaking the law can be hard work, but having a nap afterwards can put you behind bars.
And that's precisely what happened to five suspected hijackers from Motherwell, Port Elizabeth.
According to Gareth Crocker, communications manager of vehicle recovery company Tracker, the men hijacked a bakkie at about 21:00 on Tuesday.
The owner of the bakkie alerted the flying squad and Tracker about two hours later.
The Port Elizabeth flying squad recovered the vehicle at about 03:00 on Wednesday morning in Jeffrey's Bay.
All the suspects were found sleeping peacefully inside the bakkie. Shots were fired when they tried to escape, and one man was hit in the buttock.
Four were arrested and one was still at large.
Inspector Gerda Swart confirmed the incident and said the men were being held at Jeffrey's Bay police station.
