Pretoria - Two police constables and another two men believed to be their partners in crime were arrested on Tuesday following a spate of recent robberies in and around Atamelang, Delareyville and Setlagole in the North West, police said.

Spokesperson Thulani Ngubane said in a statement the four were expected to appear in the Atamelang Magistrate's Court on charges of business and house robberies.

The constables were based at the Atamelang and Delareyville police stations. More arrests were expected.

Mafikeng's organised crime unit had been investigating the case since December last year.

Lock all cops up for 12 months and allow civilians to defend themselves, see how the crime rate falls for that year. - 2011-03-02 11:21

Agreed! Because most of these robbery stories and shootings have cops involved. so i dont know why they are actually needed. Cops should also get a longer and harsher sentence! That not here to protect us so why are we all paying taxes to pay the pigs
