Cornered robber shoots self, cops say
Pretoria - An armed robber killed himself after he was cornered by police in the Pretoria city centre on Monday, police said,
He was one of three men who robbed a motor spares business on the corner of Bloed and Prinsloo streets, Lieutenant Colonel Tshisikhawe Ndou said.
The three armed men demanded money and customers' cell phones but an employee pressed a panic button and police arrived.
"When the suspects were surprised by the presence of the police, two of the three suspects surrendered and the third turned his gun on himself."
He was declared dead by paramedics at the scene.
The other two men would appear in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court soon.
