Cosatu concerned over Mandela’s health
Johannesburg - The Congress of SA Trade Unions (Cosatu) expressed concern on Saturday at the news that former president Nelson Mandela had been admitted to hospital.
"We are concerned at the news that our icon and inspiration, Comrade Nelson Mandela, has been admitted to hospital for treatment for an abdominal complaint," spokesperson Patrick Craven said.
"Cosatu wishes Madiba a speedy and full recovery."
Earlier, President Jacob Zuma's spokesperson, Mac Maharaj confirmed Mandela was admitted to a hospital. It is not known which hospital he was taken to.
"Madiba has had a long-standing abdominal complaint and doctors feel it needs proper specialist medical attention," the presidency said in a statement.
"We want to handle the matter with due regard to his privacy. We will give you updates as soon as we have any," he said.
The Presidency wished him a speedy recovery.
