Counterfeit goods worth R20m seized

Cape Town - Counterfeit goods with an estimated value of R20m have been seized in Bellville, Cape Town, Western Cape police said on Friday.
Clothing, shoes, cosmetics, medicine, poison, CDs, and DVDs were removed in the raid on Thursday, said Warrant Officer November Filander.
Shops dealing in counterfeit and illegal products in the Bellville central business district were targeted in a joint operation.
Police, customs officials, the City of Cape Town, the departments of home affairs and fisheries and forestry, and representatives from the tobacco and music industries worked together in the raid.
Police said 12 foreigners, who were in the country illegally, were arrested.
Seventeen unlicensed motor vehicles were found in the area in which the raid was carried out, Filander said.
