Couple find child porn in cupboard

Johannesburg - A couple with a young boy made a disturbing discovery in a room they were renting from a pensioner in Ogies in Mpumalanga - nine pairs of underpants presumably belonging to victims of sexual assault.
The underpants were found with pornographic photographs of boys in boxes in the cupboard that the couple had to clean out to move into the room.
Each pair of underpants had the name of the boy to whom they belonged and the date on which each of them had presumably been sexually molested.
One of the underpants apparently belonged to a boy who was molested by the 65-year-old homeowner in 1982.
Seven photographs were found showing naked boys aged between 10 and 13.
Police raid
The couple informed the police.
In a raid on the man's house, police also found a hoard of pornographic books, videos and DVDs.
The man was arrested and appeared in the Magistrate's Court in eMalahleni (Witbank) last Monday. He was held in custody until Monday, when he was released on bail of R2 000.
At this stage, he has been charged with possessing and manufacturing child pornography as well as the illegal possession of a firearm.
Charges of indecent assault and or rape could be added later on, said Captain Eddie Hall, one of the investigating officers in the case.
The homeowner had been an operator at a large steel plant in eMalahleni for over 35 years.
He apparently offered to rent the room to the couple at a ridiculously low rate.
12 possible victims traced
Police have so far been able to find 12 possible victims following leads.
Most of the victims, who now live in Witbank, Klerksdorp and Dubai, amongst others, have made statements.
The man from Klerksdorp was apparently molested in 1987.
Although police have identified him, they haven't been able to get hold of him yet.
The man who lives in Dubai, will apparently make a statement to police as soon as he visits South Africa on holiday.
Another alleged victim is a 44-year old man from eMalahleni who was molested in 1982.
Hall said this man was "emotionally broken" and had had several failed marriages.
"He is struggling to fit into normal society. He has repressed these incidents for all this time."
Hall said they suspected that there might be many other victims who have not been traced.
The man's most recent victim was apparently molested in June 2010.
