Court hits estate into the rough

Cape Town - The High Court has granted an interdict halting further development at the Roodefontein golf estate at Plettenberg Bay.
The interdict was applied for by acting Western Cape environment MEC Johan Gelderblom.
It follows a furore about alleged kickbacks totalling R400 000 the developers paid to Gelderblom's predecessor, David Malatsi, and former provincial premier Peter Marais as donations to the New National Party.
The two men, now suspended from the NNP, face charges of corruption and are being investigated by the Scorpions.
An application for a judicial review of Malatsi's approval of the development, a golf estate, will be argued in the High Court at a later date.
