Court stunned by couple's erotic display

2012-07-16 09:39

Cape Town - Being found guilty of theft had a rather strange effect on two robbers who began kissing and rubbing up against one another while their robbery trial in Mossel Bay was in full swing.

The Daily Voice reported that witnesses and court orderlies were stunned as the couple got “hot and heavy” with some orderlies saying they had never seen anything like it in all their years in court.

Officials eventually pulled the two apart.

Some speculated that being found guilty might have had a rather arousing effect on the accused.

The couple were instructed to sit on opposite sides in the dock for the rest of the proceedings, which included them being found guilty of contempt of court and public indecency in addition to their robbery charge.

The couple have not yet been sentenced.

Not so fast. This may be just a ruse to make us think they are too impulsive to control themselves. A psyciatric disorder you see? Then, send them for counciling to learn to control their desires and voila! Cured! No heavy sentence for shoplifting.

      Andre - 2012-07-17 14:19

No Charles, this is real "SA freedom of expression". The magistrate must be an old buck to take offence against their attention for each other. No sentence for them, please.

  • chris.shield - 2012-07-16 11:47

I could never understand how "contempt of court" could be a crime, It's my basic human right to feel contempt for whatever I damn well please! (especially a system of laws that are written by snakes, enforced by morons and challenged vultures....)

      malcolm.dale - 2012-07-17 07:49

My! My! Chris X. We did get out of bed on the wrong side to vent such venom. Have you ever heard of "contra bona mores" - "that which is against public morals". In other words just plain good manners. Most of our laws are based on that tenet and you being part of human society are in part responsible for the laws that we have. I am not talking just statute law - common law can be often see as being bigger than statute law. So in short what they did was contrary to public morals and should not be condoned - least of all in a court of law.

      wally.williams.148 - 2012-07-17 10:56

It may well be your right...what you and many other ppl in the world choose to forget conveniently is the factor of responsibility that comes with each right. And then, there is just plain common decency, manners and respect. Deal with your issues wrt those in authority, no matter what you now think about them.

      chris.shield - 2012-07-17 17:34

Thats all good and well, charge them with public indecency then. But feeling contempt towards the law? c'mon? The same laws that will let a confidence trickster off on a technicality and then evict his old lady victim from her house a few weeks later for not paying her bills? Respect is earned, it doesn't come attached to a gavel... The same thing could be said about disrespecting the president. What makes a courtroom so special?

  • dubidel - 2012-07-16 11:59

wait, it seems obvious to me ... if they were going straight to prison, it would be there last chance to make out with each other or anyone of the opposite sex ! the speculation that being found guilty of theft had an arousing effect on them is stupid

  • 7777santos - 2012-07-16 14:02

Judging by the number of responses and comments to such trivia explains a variety of illnesses (mental) we suffer from as a society who are supposedly to be enlightened.
