Johannesburg - A 30-year-old woman, regarded as one of the most wanted criminals on the West Rand, was arrested on Friday night in Randfontein, police said.
Inspector Solomon Sibiya said the woman was arrested during a crime prevention operation, when she was identified as being wanted through the police's electronic fingerprint system.
It appeared she was wanted in at least 16 cases of credit card fraud. The exact amount involved was not yet known.
Sibiya said the woman was being detained in Randfontein while the police investigated her possible involvement in other fraud cases.
She has been linked to fraud cases in both Gauteng and Durban.
She was due to appear in the Randfontein magistrate's court on Monday.
