Johannesburg - Two people, a husband and wife, were killed and their 16-year-old son was injured after their BMW overturned on the N1 near Vanderbijlpark on Saturday evening, Gauteng paramedics said.
"It is believed that the family was returning back to Johannesburg after visiting relatives in Kroonstad, when their BMW overturned and rolled approximately two hundred metres," said ER24 spokesperson Tristan Wadeley.
"After the vehicle crashed it is believed that the father walked back up to the road to look for assistance. While at the road side he was unfortunately hit by a passing truck and killed."
The mother was also found dead on the scene. The 16-year-old boy sustained multiple fractures and was taken to Sebokeng hospital.
Police are investigating the incident.
