Dad jailed for raping, abusing girls

Cape Town - A Cape Town father was jailed for 20 years for sexually violating his two daughters and three of their friends, it was reported on Friday.
The Cape Argus reported that the man, 42, whose identity could not be revealed, was sentenced in the Blue Downs Regional Court on Thursday.
He was arrested last year after an 11-year-old girl, who visited his daughters, told her mother he had raped her.
Other victims, aged 10 to 13, then told authorities they had also been touched sexually by the man between 2009 and 2011.
The man pleaded guilty to eight charges of sexual assault, four of rape and more than 400 counts of illegal possession of child pornography.
According to the report, Magistrate Johan Beyers said the sentence needed to be proportionate to the crimes he committed.
He said long-term imprisonment was the only appropriate sentence in this case.
