Cape Town - A Cape Town photographer was stabbed five times while trying to hold off robbers who appeared to be after his baby, it was reported on Sunday.
Craig Kolesky, 37, told the Weekend Argus that three well-dressed men entered his Oranjezicht home through a bathroom window on the first floor at around 23:00 on Friday.
They went downstairs and found his mother-in-law sleeping in the lounge. She was stabbed three times in the arm while trying to hold off the attackers.
Kolesky heard the intruders and went to investigate while his girlfriend Yvushka Makein locked herself
and the two-month-old baby into the nursery.
"I hid him between a toy box and his cot so they wouldn't get him immediately if they managed to break in," Makein told the paper.
The men returned upstairs to the nursery and tried to kick the door down.
Koleskythen attacked the men and was stabbed numerous times. He managed to escape and call for help.
The intruders fled without taking anything. No arrests had been made.
Sapa earlier incorrectly reported that Kolesky heard the intruders and locked himself and his 2-month-old baby inside the nursery.
