Cape Town - Sea Rescue was called out to help a local boat that sent out a call for help near Struisbaai.
NSRI spokesperson Shane Kempen said a request for assistance was received from a Strand resident and owner of a 5.3m Trisucat. The boat apparently drifted off course and suffered mechanical failure.
The owner Johan Badenhorst was on board with his two 14-year-old sons and a 14-year-old male friend of the family.
?A local boat, AJ, also responded to assist after seeing the crew aboard the casualty craft waving an orange banner to aid our rescue craft to spot her position and on AJ?s arrival on-scene she provided us with GPS co-ordinates of the casualty craft and aided with radio communications and although the casualty craft and crew were in no immediate danger AJ stood by on-scene as a precaution until we arrived."
The three teenagers were transferred onto the rescue craft and the stricken boat was towed to Struisbaai harbour.
